In my experience assigning it to a team means no one is accountable, so no one maintains it, people in the team will not know about it, it will cause problems come the audit. I advise against it and recommend assigning to a person.
You can assign it to a team not a person. It will require agreement with the person that you assign ownership. Think of it this way, if someone was to ask about a particular document – who is the person that knows everything about it and what it covers? We are going to get audited at some point and you want to know exactly who to speak to about the document and its topic. Owners of documents are going to be responsible for completing the required documents, maintaining the documents, and reviewing the documents.
